2011 News...

Rallying/Racing News - 12th June 2011
Third in Class, but first in the points on the Dukeries.

After the clutch failure on the Plains Rally last month we decided it was more important to finish well rather than be spectacular on this rally. We needed the points and although we can still drop one more round there are 3 rallies left in the BTRDA championship and 3 in the English Rally Championship (Note: only 1 rally the Woodpecker is in both championships). As last year proved, anything can happen so during this rally we were leaving nothing to chance. During the rally there were no major incidents to report and the car went really well. The 1400L class had a Lupo 1,2,and 3 which is testament to John Goff who built the 3 cars and run s the rallyschool.

I finished 68th overall out of 121 starters in the rally and although I finished 3rd in class I scored 1st place points, as the two Lupos in front of me were not registered for points. This means I'm still in first place in the 1400L class Championship and 2nd in the English Junior Championship. I have also improved my position in various other classes, but nothing can be taken for granted.

My Co-Driver was Joe Cruttenden for the rally and the 1400 VW Lupo was prepared by John Goff and the Rallyschool team (www.rallyschool.co.uk) based in Shropshire.

Bye for now
