Rallying/Racing News - 19th October 2008
3rd in class on the Bulldog Rally.
Yesterday I completed the 'Bulldog Rally' which was celebrating its 50th year. Joe Cruttenden from Rochdale, was my co-driver for this event. This is our 2nd rally together and we are starting to work better as a team and now are starting to be more competitive. The rally was based around Oswestry in Wales and the main action took place in some of the classic Welsh forrest stages of Dyfant and Dyfi, stages which I'd been to as a spectator with my Mum and Dad years ago. The rally consisted of the National and Clubman categories with nearly 150 competing in total. I was in the clubman category which ran at behind the nationals and I was at the back of the clubman category. Because of this some of the corners had huge ruts in the track and it felt like the car was running on rails. It was a new experience running at the back of the field as previously on the rally's I have done this year the clubman have run at the front so the track were good to drive on.
I finish 3rd in my class, and overall I finished 66th out of 90 starters in the Clubman Category. This result still has me 3rd in the Formula 1000 Forrest Championship but realistically I will finish the championship in 4th as I'am unable to compete on the last event
The pictures above shows me tackling the Dyfant Stage on the Bulldog Rally. More photos can be found if you click here Rally Gallery.
Thanks to Joe Cruttenden for being my Co-Driver for the rally. Thanks also to John Goff and the Rallyschool support team for preparing the car and keeping us going.
If you click on the following link you will be able to view an another great article on my Bulldog Rally, writen by Neil Johnson from the Lancashire Telegraph. Press coverage.
I cannot compete on the Cambrian rally which is the last rally in the Formula 1000 Forrest Rally Championship for work/college reasons but my next event will be the Coppermines Grizedale Stages Rally on the 29th November if John Goff lets me use one of his cars. I won a free entry into this rally through a raffle run by the organisers of the Formula 1000 Forrest Rally Championship.
Bye for now.
