Karting News - 29th May 2007
2007 Covkartsport Senior Lights Championship - Rye House.
Very Wet and Poor Marshalling just about sums up last Sundays Rye House karting meeting. It never stopped raining all day and the track was at times flooded in areas. Flooded so much that ducks were settling on the puddles during some of the races. At times during the day the track was getting to dangerous but people were still being sent out. The safety of the drivers was obviously not at the forefront of the organisers mind. As for the marshalling, I think it was poor because it was very inconsistent. In my 1st race I got punted of the track by a so called improving racer from last year and there was no penalty applied. In my 2nd race on the 1st lap I was in the middle of 4 or 5 karts got hit by someone which spun me sideways and I ended up knocking someone else off while traveling backwards into the barriers. I received a 30 second penalty and the guy who hit me off got away scot free. Some senior people in covkart have suggested that it was a 'racing incident' and we should just get over it, even though they never saw what went on.
Friday and Saturday before this karting meeting I went with the Rallyschool to the Jim Clark rally. I got picked up by John and the team Friday dinner time at Charnock Richard Service station and we drove up to Kelso, Scotland. We slept in the van over night which was a bit uncomfortable and I was there to help out during the rally. It didn't last long though as the rally car blew its clutch on the 1st stage. So we packed up all the gear and set of back home. If we had stayed for the whole of the rally I wouldn't have attended the karting meeting at Rye House and considering what went on I wish we hadn't.
Details of this result and previous Race Results for 2007.
Cheers.
