Rallying/Racing News - 10th April 2007
Muddy Good Start.
I'm part of the Myerscough Class Winning Buggy Team that competed in the Northern Off-Road Club Championship Wickenby on the 25th March 2007. I had been involved in preparing the car a few weeks before the event which included fixing the body work and cleaning the car. During the event, I scrapped mud of the car and check for any damage after each lap. Pat Masters, who is my Course Tutor at Myerscough College, was the driver and he said it was the roughest event he had done.

I've also been picked to be in the team that will go to Stainby, Lincolnshire over the weekend of 21/22nd April to compete in the 2nd round of the championship. It should be great fun and if Pat keeps his head when driving the car, we could do well.

Since the beginning of the year I have been attending courses and helping out at the Rallyschool in Shropshire. I've been away with the team to 2 event, the Wyedean Stages last February and the Malcolm Wilson Stages in early March. It was a great experience to be part of the team and I learnt a lot about what goes on behind the scenes of a national rally. More recently I've had a 1 to 1 with John Goff, which was suggested at the back end of last year, with the aim of improving my rally driving even more. The session went well and John was impressed with how much I took on board and how my consistency had got better. We are going to have another session in a few weeks to work more on the consistency side of my rally driving and also to see if I can drive a different car to the same level.
Bye for now.
