Rally Training at a Rallyschool in Shropshire.
Yesterday I had my 3rd Rally training session at the Rallyschool with John Goff. My last 2 visits (previous one was last July) I have been driving a the Nissan Micra. You may laugh, but this little car has been modified in every area and is great fun to learn in.
As it had been 2 months since I sat behind the wheel of the micra, it took a few runs to get used to the car again. John's aim for the day was to get us to left foot brake, which felt awkward to start with but as the day went on it became easier. Once use to it, I increased my speed on other areas of the stage which made some of the corners easier to take. On my last session I did well to start with but on my 2nd lap the tyres marking the route went flying. I misjudged a corner which put me on the wrong line going into the next which caused all the tyres to go flying and the car to end up sideways on the stage. John just smiled and pointed out what I had done wrong and we finished the session without hiting anything else. Needless to say if it had been a real forrest stage those tyres would have been trees and I would have been out of the rally.

I shared the car with another lad called Dom who's a few years younger than me and is very quick. He's building his own Micra prepared rally car in his Dad's garage, so he'll know the car a bit more than I do.
John has asked if I can go to the school more often and go around with him to learn more about the sport. This I hope do as often as I can in the future.

Bye for now.
