2006 Covkartsport Senior Lights Championship - Sutton Elms.

It was a very wet race meeting at Sutton Elms today, but I like driving in the rain and I intended to take full advantage of the weather.

In my 1st race I was gridded 7th. I got off to a good start and by the end of the 1st lap I was up to 4th. On the 2nd lap I gained a couple more places, but on the 3rd lap the race was stopped due to an accident to one of the back runners. This red flag should have ended the race (according to the rules) but the marshall's gridded everyone up again to restart. In the confusion I was put in the wrong place which sent my Dad ballistic. We all set of again, got around the 1st corner and then the race was again finally stopped with me finishing 2nd.

My 2nd race was quiet uneventful. I was gridded on pole and I was never threatened during the race and I finished 1st.

For my last race I was gridded 6th. After a restart due to computer problems, I managed to get myself into 2nd due to 4 of the kart's in front of me forcing themselves off at the first corner. I couldn't catch the 1st placed driver and in the later stages of the race I made a few mistakes which meant I was being threatened for my 2nd place. I was able to defend for a couple of laps but my kart was loosing power and I finally succumbed 2 laps from the end and I lost 2nd place. For the last couple of laps I couldn't make the kart go any faster, but I still was able to finish in 3rd.

I finished the day in joint 3rd on points with Alan Smith and Stewart Lindsay (5th if you include fastest laps), which means at the moment I'm joint 2nd in the Senior Lights Championship with Stewart Lindsay. The next race meeting is on the 18th June, at GYG(Glan-y-gors) which is one of my favourite circuits, but for now I must get back to studying for my GCSE's. Details of this result and previous Race Results for 2006.

Cheers.
