2005 Covkartsport Junior Championship - Daytona Milton Keynes.
Daytona Milton Keynes, Covkartsport Junior Championship Race, 6th November 2005 - COVKARTSPORT JUNIOR CHAMPION for 2005...
The weather was wet for all three races, just how I like it. The organizers had reduced the number of laps from 8 to 5 as the weather was so bad.
The 1st race saw me 13th on the grid grid. The start was just like a Daytona Manchester start i.e. everyone going for the first corner as though it was the only corner in the race. After that thing settled down and I raced through the field relatively unscathed. I ran out of laps in catching 2nd and 1st so I had to settle for 3rd place.
In the 2nd race I was 6th on the grid grid and after another good start I got up to 2nd. I was never going to catch the 1st place driver but I knew the main competitors for the championship were behind me, so I settled for 2nd which was a good result.
The last race of the day and last in this years championship saw me 5th on the grid, behind Andrew Juckes in 3rd and Alex Johnson-Brett in 1st (The other championship hopefuls). The first corner saw Andrew and Alex collide which I managed to avoided and I took the lead. I didn't know what went on after that but I couldn't believe I was in front so I made the best of it. On the next lap, the race was stopped as Sian Lindsay and Andrew Juckes had crashed out, both had injuries. The race restarted 5-10 minutes later under solid yellows, with everyone in the position they had been stopped in. I finished the race in 2nd place behind someone not in contention for the championship but well ahead of Alex and Andrew so that was enough for me.
I won the day's racing in the Juniors, I also had the fastest lap in the Juniors and I won the Championship...Fantastic result.
