Glan-y-gors, Covkartsport Junior Championship Race, 9th October 2005 - Third...

In the 1st race I was 4th on the grid and after a good start I got up to 2nd behind Alex Johnson-Bret. I tailed him for most of the race and 2 laps from the end I made my challenge. Its was at the last right hander before the main finishing straight, but it was deemed to have been unfair and for which I got a warning flag. So I ended up finishing 2nd.

The 2nd race saw me 7th and last on the grid and after another good start I got up to 4th. I was never going to catch the 1st and 2nd place drivers but I was determined to get 3rd. Sparky Whitelegge was in 3rd at the time and I realized he couldn't climb the hill before the spoon. This is where I made my move which was successful. I also knew Sparky wasn't going to give up and he tried his move at the spoon and ended up spinning off. This allowed me to consolidate 3rd place in the race.

My last race of the day ended up with another tussle with Alex Johnson-Brett. I was gridded 3rd and early on I got into the lead, but I knew it wouldn't be long before Alex was on my tail. He got passed me and basically I couldn't keep up with him in the kart I had ('to many pies' my Dad said). So I ended up finishing 2nd in the race. As a number of the top 5 in the junior championship had a bad day for 1 reason or another, I finished the day in 3rd and moved up in the overall championship to 2nd equal.

Congratulations to Alex Johnson-Brett for coming 1st and Matthew Holmes for 2nd. I'm now 2nd equal with 310 points (after dropping my lowest score), in the Junior Championship and I'm still 7th equal in the overall Covkartsport Championship(all weights). The next and last race in the Covkartsport Championship is the meeting at Daytona Milton Keynes, on the 6th November 2005. There are going to be some fireworks that day as everything is still to play for.
