Second and a Third at Three Sisters.
Prokart Grand Prix's at Three Sisters, 5th February 2005 and 9th March 2005...
I have competed in two more Prokart Grand Prix events at the Three Sister kart track at Wigan. This is to give me more experience of racing outdoors and competing in different weather conditions.
On the 5th February 2005, the track at Three Sisters was, in the words of Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson, 'Mildly Moist'. There were 20 competitors of varying abilities, but the competition was very fierce. My grid positions in the heats were all at the back (grid positions 8th, 7th and 6th), but I still managed to finish 1st in one and 3rd in the other two. This put me 3rd on the grid in the 'A' final. I had a good start in the final, but on the second lap, while in second place right behind the leader I made my only mistake of the day, and I spun onto the grass at lunar bend. I got back on the track in 4th and managed to finish the final in 3rd place.
On the 9th March 2005, I competed in my first flood lit Prokart race at Three Sisters. The track was dry but the weather was freezing. There were 23 competitors of varying abilities entered for the race. The main challenge was driving under lights which I had never done before and it took some getting use to. The heats went well, although I was beaten into 2nd by the same guy in all the heats (grid positions 2nd, 1st and 11th). I was 4th on the grid in the 'A' final and I had a good start moving up to second by the end of the first lap. Starting 4th, I was just to far behind to catch the eventual winner, but I did pass the guy who had beaten me in the heats to gain 2nd. It was a good experience driving at night under floodlights and something I hope I can do again.
